Greater Manchester’s work with communities and workplaces to develop support for people to take a short walk each day was fundamental to the development of the GM Daily Mile Toolkit. The toolkit has now been adopted by The Daily Mile Fit For Life as part of an ongoing collaborative partnership between Greater Manchester and The Daily Mile.

The Daily Mile have today launched The Daily Mile Toolkit, developed by Greater Manchester, encouraging and creating simple opportunities to help increase the everyday activity levels of children, young people and adults. By broadening the delivery of The Daily Mile from a school setting into the community and a variety of other settings, the toolkit aims to have an impact across the generations.

The Daily Mile Toolkit aims to support people doing their Daily Mile however and wherever suits them. There are three tailor-made versions: Individual and Family Toolkit, Workplace Toolkit and a Groups and Organisations Toolkit and all help people to run, jog, wheel or walk The Daily Mile.

The Daily Mile Fit For Life work has been inspired by the success of the highly acclaimed children’s health and wellbeing initiative ‘The Daily Mile’ which was started by Elaine Wyllie in 2012 whilst headteacher of a Scottish Primary school.
