The Fit4Life health and wellbeing project in Halliwell, Bolton is attended by over 300 women every week, most of whom had previously never exercised.

This project is one of over 80 projects funded in Greater Manchester through Sport England’s Together fund. Previously the Tackling Inequalities Fund, The Together Fund exists to help to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus and help community groups working with our target audiences to grow and help more people be active.

There are four key audiences;

    • Lower socio-economic groups
    • Culturally diverse communities
    • Disabled people
    • People with long-term health conditions.

The aim of Fit4Life is to better women's knowledge of health & nutrition, build confidence, create friendships, tackle social isolation & integrate our community. It is free for women who live in Bolton and have been identified as vulnerable or isolated.  This may include but not limited to, anyone with lived experience of: mental health problems, physical or learning disabilities, domestic abuse, carers, alcohol or drugs, referral form. There are bilingual organisers to help with accessibility to the project and ladies are referred through the GP as well as through family and friends.

Take a look at the project and the difference it is making by watching the video clip below.
