Awards and Associations

The Greater Manchester Sport Partnership was one of the first in the country to achieve both the Foundation and Preliminary Levels of the Equality Standard – A Framework for Sport.

The partnership was a pilot CSP working to develop the Award.  The partnership achieved the Foundation Level of the Award, in November 2006.  Less than one year on, the Partnership succeeded in achieving the Preliminary Level, in September 2007.

The Equality Standard for Sport was launched in November 2004. It is a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from under representative individuals, groups and communities especially women and girls, ethnic minority groups and disabled people. It is based around two broad themes: developing your organisation and developing your services and four levels of achievement: Foundation, Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced.
