Stretford Amateur Swimming Club (SASC) has circa 250 swimmers from NPTS level 6 to adults, including Water Polo, Lifeguard and Adult sections. We currently compete in M+D “TEAM”, Programme A and M+D Championships, Central Lancs Intermediate and Speedo competitions and regularly feed swimmers into the Swim Trafford Performance Squad.
We are working towards our Swim 21 accreditation and are proud of our reputation as an inclusive family club which caters for swimmers of all of abilities. We have spent the last 2 years making major changes within the club in aligning ourselves with the Boroughs Trafford Swim Well Programme.
Having had a successful consolidation period we are now looking for a Head Coach to take us forward and build on our strengths. We do not at present operate an elite squad system; however, as talented swimmers emerge they are introduced to the Swim Trafford Performance Squad.
We currently have 16.5hrs of main pool time split between Swimming, Polo, Lifeguard and Adult sections. We believe we are in a strong position having developed a good teaching and development programme; however we are continually looking to improve.
An essential aspect of the role will be to review all the current swim groups, use of our pool time and to define and deliver both the short and long term objectives of the club. We require someone who can build on our strengths and take the club forward both on and off poolside.
Applicants must:
- Be committed to SASC and be able to work with our coaches, teachers, volunteers and swimmers developing and building effective working relationships.
- Hold either an ASA Club Coach Certificate, or a UKCC Level 2 qualification.
- Ideally working towards your UKCC Level 3.
- Be self-motivated, have an ability to work on your own initiative but also work under direction of the SASC committee and in conjunction with the Swim Trafford Head coach.
- Attendance at galas and meets is fundamental as is the mentoring and development of the existing SASC coach’s teachers and poolside staff.
- Although not essential it would be an advantage to have assisted with implementing Swim 21 and to have previously developed, proposed and managed change.
An enhanced CRB check will be required.
