Needs assessment, planning and accreditation
The Government’s PE and School Sport Vision is supported by a number of national partners. Each of which has a number of offers/tools that schools can benefit from. The following assessment and planning resources have been developed to support schools.
Me and My Pupil Insight Software
A unique online student survey tool for primary and secondary schools that covers sports participation, competition, volunteering health and other pupil and school research topics.
Compatible with SIMS (Schools Information Management System) allowing student demographics (age, gender, ethnicity, SEN status, eligibility for free school meals, attainment levels, etc.) to be cross referenced with the survey results in an online, live interactive format. For further information and how schools can purchase the software at a subsidised rate click here.
afPE Quality Mark for PE & School Sport
The afPE Quality Mark recognises, through a succinct self-review and evaluation process, the strength and quality of physical education and sport in schools and is directly related to the new Ofsted framework 2015. The process involves completing a Microsoft Word application using a self-review strategy which will be followed up by a review visit by an allocated afPE Validator. All afPE Validators are Ofsted/Estyn or School Improvement officers providing up-to-date and relevant support and guidance. For more details click here.
School Games Quality Mark
The Sainsbury's School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Kitemark.
All Sainsbury’s School Games registered schools are able to apply for the mark. For more details click here.
YST Quality Mark
The YST quality mark is a nationally validated quality mark, providing schools with a simple and structured process to significantly improve PE and sport provision. As part of the OFSTED criteria, schools will need to add a section to their website demonstrating how they are effectively utilising the funding provided.
The YST quality mark will help showcase schools progress and achievements in developing high quality PE and sport.
It is an online self review tool that helps audit PE provision and identify priorities. Schools receiving an excellent rating will receive the YST Quality Mark to signify outstanding practice.
Schools not yet achieving the excellent standard on the self review can use the resources available to Members in the resource library to support them to reach the standard. For more details click here.
Youth Sport Trust Self Review Wall Planner
This self-review tool will help schools assess their provision and outcomes in PE and school sport. It will also help them identify their own priorities. Click here to download the poster.
