The University of Manchester is part of the prestigious Russell Group of Universities with outstanding facilities and over 400 degree programmes to choose from. At SPORT Manchester we look to enrich the student experience and wellbeing through sport. One of our key aims is to increase participation across the student and staff population. Last year we engaged over 6,900 in our activities and are looking to grow this significantly over the next 5 years. We offer a number of different programmes aimed to engage complete beginners in sport and physical activity through to supporting the next aspiring Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

SPORT Manchester offers:

Sport at a competitive and participation level through our 42 Athletic Union clubs across 36 different sports

Extended opportunities through partnerships with local sports teams and clubs, including Manchester Thunder, Timperley Lacrosse Club and Brooklands Hockey Club

Campus Sport an inter-university sports programme with 427 teams from Halls, Schools, Societies and friendship groups playing 5 different sports in league based competitions.

Sport Scholarships investing in the dual career of aspiring performance student athletes

Access to a fantastic range of top quality sport, fitness and wellbeing facilities at student friendly rates. This includes three fully equipped fitness suites, two 50-metre swimming pools and the most extensive range of all-weather outdoor sports facilities of any University in the UK including four floodlit 3G five-a-side football pitches; four full-sized sand dressed floodlit artificial turf pitches; two full-sized floodlit 3G artificial turf pitches; and two tennis courts. Our five facilities include:
