Barriers to accessing cricket for people with disabilities

Disability Sport Pages

What are the barriers that people with disabilities have to accessing cricket?

This questionnaire has been designed as part of a research project that is investigating ‘The barriers to accessing cricket for disabled people’.  The North West Disability Cricket Forum (NWDCF) has commissioned this research in partnership with the Manchester Institute of Sport and Physical Activity (MISPA), which is based at the Manchester Metropolitan University.

The NWDCF require this work to be undertaken to encourage people with a disability to take part in all aspects of cricket – officiating, scoring and volunteering and not just playing.  This type of research has not been carried out previously and it would also help to improve local disability programmes.

You will therefore be asked to complete a questionnaire which asks you about participation in school cricket and cricket clubs.  If you are under the age of 18, the questionnaire must be completed with your parent / guardian support and consent.  You do not have to have a disability to complete the questionnaire; your answers will be used as a comparison.

Even though your name will be asked for, when compiling the information from the completed questionnaires, all answers will remain anonymous.

Each completed questionnaire will be entered into a prize draw.  Prizes include signed lancashire bats and t-shirts.
