National  Disabled  Water  Ski  Competition

On  the  12th/13th  July,  2008  the  Whitworth  Water  Ski  &  Recreation  Centre will be host to the British  National  Water  Ski  Championships  for  disabled  people.

Several  members  of  the  British  Disabled  Water  Ski  Team,  who  won  the  World  Championship  for  Great  Britain  in  Australia  last  March,  will  be  competing.  This  is  also  a  European  Tour  Stop,  which  means  we  should  get  some  of  the  top  European  disabled  water  skiers  taking  part.

Selenia  Guadagno  (Ellie), from Bury a  double  leg  below  knee  amputee  should  be  taking  to  the  water.  Ellie  was  a  British  Team  Member  winning  several  medals  and  was  second  in  the  World  overall  at  the  World  Championships  in  Belgim  in  2005  which  GB  also  won.  Ellie  said  that  water  skiing  had  transformed  her  life  and  she  loves  the  sport.

This  is  a  great  opportunity  to  see  some  incredible  people  perform  at  world  class  level.  Water  Skiing  is  a  great  example  of  a  sport  which  is  very  accessible  and  achievable  for  all  disabled people.

Friday  the  11th  July  is  practice  day.

The event will take place at the Whitworth  Water  Ski  &  Recreation  Centre,  Tong  Lane,  Whitworth.  OL12  8BE.
