The Visa Paralympic World Cup is an exciting global event for elite athletes with a disability. Since its inaugural year in 2005 it has now become firmly established on the International Calendar.
It is the biggest international annual multi-sport competition outside of the Paralympic Games and is being staged in Manchester, Great Britain in 2007 for the third year in succession.
In conjunction with the International Paralympic Committee and the British Paralympic Association, four sports - Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling and Wheelchair Basketball - were chosen for inclusion in the Visa Paralympic World Cup. These four sports will be showcased again in 2007 over eight days of competition.
For the people of Greater Manchester this is an opportunity to welcome the worlds greatest sportsment and women together for a global celebration of disability sport in their own community.

In addition Manchester Sports Development are hosting Paralympic Day in Albert Square on Wednesday 9th May. This will be part of a National Paralympic Roadshow delivered in partnership with the British Paralympic Association.
The aim of the day is to promote grassroots and Paralympic Sport. The day is open to all abilities learning and physical. There will be opportunities for children to 'have a go' at athletics, boccia, cycling, table tennis and wheelchair basketball.

Later in the day, the BPA will have National Coaches from Paralympic Sports searching for potential talent to possibly compete in the 2012 Paralympics.
