Richard Saunders, Chief Executive of the Greater Manchester Sport Partnership pledged to ‘Equality’ at the Greater Manchester Youth Games 2006 by announcing the Greater Manchester Sport Partnership would be working towards achieving the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard.
Since the announcement, the Partnership has worked tirelessly to change key practices and policies throughout the organisation.
The partnership was one of the first County Sport Partnerships in the country to achieve the 'Foundation Level' of the Equality Standard in December 2006.
Through the ‘Foundation Level’ process the Partnership promoted participation within our three key target groups, women and girls, disabled people and ethnic minorities. Whilst we can all celebrate the achievements of the past years we acknowledge we need to continue to improve and expand our work further. This will include considering the needs of other equity partners.
Our aim now is to improve our commitment to equality by completing the 'Preliminary Level' of the Equality Standard in the June 2007 submissions.
We have produced an 'Equality Plan for the preliminary level' and circulated it amongst our many partnership groups. We are in our final phase of consultation and invite you to forward your comments on our plan and our Equity Policy by emailing josie@greatersport.co.uk
