  • Public Health England estimate that more than four in 10 people do not do enough physical activity to achieve good health. As a result, an average of 5.31 sick days are taken per person per year, costing businesses a total of £14.9 billion in lost working days.

Evidence from research conducted by the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity & Health (BHFNC) on the data of the first 2 years County Sport Partnership Workplace Challenge programme showed that:

  • Time is the biggest barrier to exercise
  • Flexibility is fundamental to an exercise friendly culture
  • A healthy workforce is better for your bottom line
  • A supportive network helps boost participation
