Workplace Health & Wellbeing

Work is a big part of our lives.

  • 73.6% of the adult population aged 16-64 are in employment and spend around 60% of their waking hours in the workplace2.
  • Public Health England estimate that more than four in 10 people do not do enough physical activity to achieve good health. As a result, an average of 5.31 sick days are taken per person per year, costing businesses a total of £14.9 billion in lost working days.

Evidence from research conducted by the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity & Health (BHFNC) on the data of the first 2 years County Sport Partnership Workplace Challenge programme showed that:

  • Time is the biggest barrier to exercise
  • Flexibility is fundamental to an exercise friendly culture
  • A healthy workforce is better for your bottom line
  • A supportive network helps boost participation

There is plenty of support to help your workplace be more active, below are just some of the options available in Greater Manchester. Click on the logo to find out more.

Get Companies Active

The Get Companies Active - Relay Triathlon is set to be one of the most inspiring sports events of the year, combining some of the most important things that effect the Bolton community including workforce fitness, fun, vital charity work and a sense of corporate responsibility.

The first runners, swimmers and cyclists are due to hurtle over the start line on 3 September 2017, the relay race is followed by a family-friendly after-party, BBQ and awards ceremony to celebrate everybody’s achievements together and hand over to our 3 charities beneficiaries.

Get Companies Active created this triathlon to be accessible but challenging to novices after some training to improve general health and fitness, so what’s stopping you representing YOUR company’s team on the big day?
