Greater Manchester 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy One Year to Go!
The Weekend of July 23rd /24th 2011 marks one year to go until the London 2012 Olympic Games!
Greater Manchester is marking the occasion with many events that the public can get involved with on the day and activities that can be continued over the coming year.
Bury and Oldham are launching their ‘Inspiring Cycling Sundays’ programme on the 24th July in Clarence Park and Alexandra Park respectively. These are monthly off-road rides for adults, led by a qualified ride leader.
Rochdale are holding a Big Weekend of Games and Fun in Heywood Sports Village and Queens Park, including an opportunity for children to enter an aquathon – a swimming and running event. Adults can take part in a triathlon event on Saturday August 6th.
Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust and the Wythenshawe Forum Trust are opening up their facilities to anyone right across Manchester in celebration of the ‘1 year to go’ countdown until the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games on Sunday 24th July.
