GMPA/ASK Goodman
It is well documented that quality coaching enhances health and well being, promotes fair play, generates social cohesion and builds self esteem (Sports Coach UK, 2008).
That’s why GMPA/ASK Goodman in partnership with GreaterSport have created a three year coaching project that will bring in an additional £52,000 to coach development in Greater Manchester. The scheme has the ability to leave a 2012 legacy that would be unprecedented in our area.
This partnership will create more coaches in local clubs, provide access for talented performers to receive high quality coaching and raise the profile of coaching;
- 240 newly qualified coaches operating in Greater Manchester grassroots clubs in the most deprived areas
- 85 of Greater Manchester’s best sport performers from deprived backgrounds will obtain a bursary from the GMPA Coaching Legacy Fund to pay for elite coaching.
- Support the Annual Sports Award (Volunteer of the Year) and the Greater Manchester School Games which interacts with 4,500 young people and engages over a 100 coaches.
