GreaterSport and England Basketball are working hard to increase the availability and enhance the quality of basketball competition in Greater Manchester.

 

Greater Manchester County Finals

The Greater Manchester Basketball County School Finals will take place in January 2012. Local schools will fight it out to become borough champions and earn their place in the county finals.

The dates and venues for the 2011/12 school year are as follows:

U14 Girls -  Tuesday 24th January: St. Peter’s HS  (Belle Vue Leisure Centre) , Manchester M12 5GL-   1.00 – 5.00pm

U16 Girls -  Tuesday 31st January: St. Peter’s  HS  (Belle Vue Leisure Centre) Manchester M12 5GL –  1.00 – 5.00pm

U14 Boys -  Monday 23rd January: Whalley Range HS, (Amaechi Centre) Manchester M16 8GW –   1.00 – 5.00pm

U16 Boys -  Thursday 26th January: Whalley Range HS (Amaechi Centre) Manchester M16 8GW – 1.00 – 5.00pm

School Accreditation

‘BasketballMark’ is the England Basketball quality accreditation scheme for primary and secondary schools. It is a developmental and auditing tool that rewards and recognises a school for it’s provision of basketball to it’s students both within the curriculum and in the extra-curricular opportunities it offers. There are four levels of award:

  • BasketballMark Primary
  • BasketballMark 1 Star
  • BasketballMark 2 Star
  • BasketballMark 3 Star

Quite simply it’s a simple way of formalizing all the basketball that takes place within your school, ensuring that your hard work is recognised and rewarded by England Basketball. England Basketball provide a number of benefits for its affiliated schools, working in partnership with England Basketball, GreaterSport can further increase these benefits making affiliation worthwhile for all.
