GreaterSport's Shirley Veevers becomes Open Data Champion
Date13th February 2018
As the digital world develops it is important that we keep on top of the new technology and opportunities that could help us get Greater Manchester Moving.
One area which could have a huge impact on how individuals can find an activity is open data. GreaterSport have therefore been working with the Open Data Institute (ODI) to understand what open data could mean for Greater Manchester.
On the back of this Shirley Veevers our Development Manager (Sport) has been selected to become an OpenActive Champion. The OpenActive Champions programme launched last week and unites ten advocates working to locally transform their part of the physical activity and sport sector with open data.
“My ambition as a champion is to work with experts and utilise our combined knowledge and insight; education to networks, act as an advocate for ODI and the power of digital, and influence a range of partners across Greater Manchester to open their opportunity data to help make sport and activity easier to access through digital platforms.”
The ODI will support Shirley with her ambition across Greater Manchester to ensure the County maximises the opportunities that Open Data brings.
