The Wigan Sports Performance Fund has been set up to support Wigan’s top level National sports performers by providing grants to help with the financial costs towards training and competition.

Applicants to the fund must have reached a minimum standard of national level in their chosen sport and can apply for maximum grants of up to £750 to aid their training and development.

The Wigan Sports Performance Fund is supported by funds from Manchester Airport and will be managed by Wigan Sports Development Unit. There will be three grant rounds within a 12 month period, with a set amount of funding allocated to each round. All applications will be judged against a set of criteria and will be scored accordingly by an independent executive jugding panel made up of Rodney Hill, Chief Executive of WLCT, Trevor Barton, Wigan Olympic Ambassador and a representative from the Wigan Sports Development Unit.
