Sportivate What is Sportivate?

Sportivate is a nationwide campaign that will capture the excitement of sport and London 2012 by providing attractive, affordable and sustainable sporting opportunities for teenagers and young adults in the sport of their choice and guiding them into regular participation within their community.

Sportivate is a key part of Sport England’s London 2012 mass participation legacy plan, “Places People Play”, a £135 million initiative which will bring additional funding into grassroots sport.

Sportivate offers those who are not participating regularly in sport (or only for a limited amount of time) the opportunity to take part in 6 to 8 weeks of high quality coaching sessions and supports them to continue playing sport afterwards.

The national targets for Sportivate are that 300,000 participants aged 14 to 25 (16,500 in Greater Manchester) will complete Sportivate sessions and at least 40% or 120,000 of them (6,600 in Greater Manchester) will be inspired to carry on playing sport regularly.

Sport England is investing £1.7 million of National Lottery funding into Greater Manchester for delivery of the 4 year Sportivate programme. For year 2 of Sportivate (April 2012 to March 2013), GreaterSport has £345,000 available to partners to deliver Sportivate sessions.

To find out more, or if you think your club, group or organisation can help deliver Sportivate aims and outcomes in Greater Manchester, download the Year 2 Sportivate guidance and application form below. (Please note that there is a different application form for year 2 than there was for year 1).
