Westleigh Basketball achieved Clubmark in 2006 and were awarded 3 star accreditation in recognition of their excellent structure and policies in place. The club are currently working towards 4 star accreditation which requires higher level criteria to be met.
The club works alongside the England Basketball guidelines implementing all their policies and all members being affiliated.
The club has an excellent Youth Policy enrolling all over 16’s onto the Millennium Volunteers scheme or Wigan’s ‘Get Active, Get Volunteering’ Scheme for those aged 14. Westleigh encourage all members to take as many courses as possible in coaching, referring and table officiating. The club also send members on First Aid courses, Equity in Your Coaching, Coaching Disabled Performers and Safeguarding and Child Protection. The club also try and include citizenship into our work to encourage empathy for other people and the importance of team work and communication.
Obviously with a strong nomination the above is only the tip of the ice berg with regards to the work that Westliegh Basketball Club do. The Basketball community of Greater Manchester wish them luck for the county awards evening on April 11th.
