THE BRITISH HORSE SOCIETY
The British Horse Society (BHS) is the largest equine charity in the UK and works tirelessly for every horse and rider.
Focusing on training & education, horse welfare, horse and rider safety, access and rights of way, our recent rapid membership growth has shown that interest in horses and ponies and equestrianism in general, is greater than ever and support for us as a horse charity is strong in all areas. This gives us a powerful voice when campaigning on issues that really matter.
The British Horse Society Approvals Scheme includes more than 900 riding schools and livery yards across the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Hong Kong, Spain, Singapore and the USA. The scheme assists riders and horse owners in selecting an establishment that will suit their needs. All BHS Approved Establishments are inspected at least once a year and establishments only pass if they have met the most stringent standards of instruction, safety and horse care. BHS examinations are vocational examinations designed for and aimed at, persons wishing to either pursue teaching as a career or who simply wish to explore the extent of their equestrian knowledge
