GreaterSport does not have a dedicated Rowing Development Officer, however works closely with the Amateur Rowing Association (ARA) to support the development of the sport across Greater Manchester.
If you're interested in getting involved in Rowing, the information below should help you find what you're looking for. If not, please contact GreaterSport and we'll do our best to help.
National Governing Body: Amateur Rowing Association (ARA)
The ARA is the governing body for the sport of rowing. The Association is responsible for the training and selection of individual rowers and crews representing Great Britain and for participation in and development of rowing and indoor rowing in England. We are committed to ensuring that the sport continues to thrive from the grass roots right up to winning medals at the Olympic Games.
Put simply, our aim is to make rowing available to as many people as possible, keep those people involved, and strive for success in everything - including international success. We do this by developing initiatives which are delivered by an ever increasing professional staff base and the most committed of volunteers. The organisational structure of rowing makes it all possible - we have over 500 affiliated clubs split into 11 regions, 24 divisions and 250 competitions which fit into a comprehensive racing calendar.
There are lots of opportunities to get involved in the sport, from indoor rowing, rowing for health, racing, junior opportunities, coaching and club participation.
