Workforce Development

The development of Greater Manchesters sport and active leisure workforce is key to the realisation of the countys vision of increasing levels of particiaption in sport and physical activity.

Workforce development is education, training and development of paid and unpaid staff and means developing skills to ensure that all staff have the relevant skills, the ability and the confidence to carry out their role effectively.

Greater Manchester Sports Partnership have and continue to work closely with their partners, including Sport England NW, Skills Active and Sports Volunteering North West, to develop the Workforce Development Plan for the county. The plan is available as a download (please click here to download), but it should be noted that this is a working document.

The workforce development plan covers Sports Development, Education, National Governing Bodies, Private Sports Providers and Volunteers.  Quite simply this means we will be working and supporting others to identify the training needs, education, and development of the staff within the following groups and organisations: Greater Manchester Country Sports Partnerships core team, the 10 Local Authority Sports Development Teams, the 10 Greater Manchester SPAA's (Sport and Physical Activity Alliances), National Governing Bodies of sport (club, coach and volunteers). Working with Education Local Delivery Agents, School Sports Partnerships, leisure facility providers (including schools, private providers and trusts) to inform the counties priorities for workforce development.

If you would like to have an input into the county workforce plan or would like more information please contact Alexandra Moore, Education and Skills Manager alexandram@greatersport.co.uk
