'I love me' become title sponsors of Games

'I love me' Greater Manchester Youth Games

‘I love me’ and the Association of Greater Manchester PCTs become Title Sponsors to celebrate 20 Years of the Greater Manchester Youth Games

The Association of Greater Manchester Primary Care Trusts have joined forces to sponsor the 20th Anniversary of the Greater Manchester Youth Games.  They are backing the Games through the use of a brand new and innovative campaign that has been developed by the PCTs in partnership with the Manchester Evening News.  This new campaign called ‘I love me’ is a consumer-facing brand used to convey health messages in a new way to the public.

The Association will be utilising the new brand in the execution of their sponsorship of the Greater Manchester Youth Games, which will take place on Saturday 12 July 2008.  As title sponsors of the Games, the brand has been integrated into the logo, and the Games will now be known as the ‘ ‘I love me’ Greater Manchester Youth Games 20th Anniversary’.

Jan Hutchinson, Chair of the Greater Manchester Directors of Public Health Group, comments:

“The Association of Greater Manchester Primary Care Trusts is extremely proud to be backing the 20th Anniversary of the Greater Manchester Youth Games.  The new ‘I love me’ brand is being taken to the public of Greater Manchester by using a newly launched, Greater Manchester wide campaign.  The campaign is being delivered through regular features across the Manchester Evening New Media portfolio. The additional sponsorship of the Games allows us take the brand into the youth market, through an event that aligns so closely with one of the strands of the campaign, namely encouraging people to get active, so that we start to combat the present trend of a rise in obesity.”

The ‘I love me’ campaign was launched on 28 April this year, and the campaign focuses on reducing inequality gaps and improving the health of people in Greater Manchester.

Richard Saunders, Chief Executive of GreaterSport, the organisers of the Games says:

“We are delighted that the Association of Greater Manchester PCTs have brought the newly launched ‘I love me’ brand to the Greater Manchester Youth Games.  The event is a fantastic celebration of community sport, and involves nearly 3000 participants on the day, and 1000’s more in the run up to the event through trials.

In order to get young people involved in sport and physical activity, we need to continue to deliver events like the Games to a very high standard, and sponsorship is so essential for this.  We are lucky that for the 20th Anniversary we have secured a sponsor that so closely understands the reasons and values behind the event, and the existing campaign will give us an unprecedented opportunity to work in partnership with our media partner, the Manchester Evening News and the Association of Greater Manchester PCTs to raise awareness of this fantastic celebration of sport and the arts.”
