TeamBURY get set for Games!
Many sports have represented teamBury at the Youth Games and this year two more join in the fun with teams for cheerleading and badminton taking part at this years ‘I love me’ Greater Manchester Youth Games, which also celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
Following successful badminton trials held over three consective weeks at Castle Leisure Centre in April, a new junior club, Bury Topflight Badminton Club has been established, with support from Bury Sports Development and Badminton England. Carly Ibbott, Sports Development Officer, said ‘A new junior badminton club is great for Bury, providing more opportunities for young people to participate in sport’.

Bury School Sports Partnership and Funtime Activites joined forces to hold trials for the teamBury Cheerleading squad in May. With over 45 girls aged 12-16 in attendance it was finally decided that 12 performers from Woodhey, Tottington and Castlebrook High Schools would form the team. Cheerleading is a fantastic combination of dance and gymanstics and is a great way to exercise and stay healthy. Already delivered in a number of schools in Bury but with an ever increasing demand more opportunities will be made available throughout the Borough.
