I got involved when my children began to play hockey for Bury. I ended up as chairman of Bury Jaguars and we had great success at the Games. I "retired" this year but I'll be going back to watch, it really is one of the best sporting events for young people in the country. GO BURY!
I have being coaching the girls basketball since its introduction to the GMYG in 1993 or 1994.
My first year of involvement was during the Manchester bid for the Olympics. The event started with an Olympic style procession of all the competitors and coaches and an opening ceremony with a torch at the GMEX. Since then I have been responsible for Team Bury Table Tennis squads.
The celebration after was great i really enjoyed the whole weekend. My team tried their best and there were some very competitive teams out there. Think we came fourth in the end but we didn't go home unhappy as we had enjoyed ourselves and was glad to take part.
