'I love me' Greater Manchester Youth Games 20th Anniversary

Without the volunteer coaches, team managers, administrators and 'on-the-day support, the 'I love me' Greater Manchester Youth Games would cease to function.

Volunteers are a vital part of the Games, in the run-up to the event, on the day and after the Games has finished.  They are the people behind the scenes that make sure we can deliver a Games that is second to none.

We need volunteers for a variety of roles on the day, and if you are interested in making a real difference in sport, please do not hesitate to contact Jill Mayers, Volunteer Development Officer on 0161 223 1002 or jillm@greatersport.co.uk for more information.

If you are a company or organisation that runs a volunteer scheme, where you release employees to be engaged in their community, please click here for more details on in-kind and volunteer support.

Examples of roles include:

PRE-EVENT

  • Administration support at the GreaterSport offices, working as a team to carry out a number of vital last minute tasks!
  • Setting up venues for the Greater Manchester Youth Games.  This with require a degree of physical fitness, and may possibly involve manual handling.

ON THE DAY

  • Being part of the welcome party, helping to celebrate twenty years of the 'I love me' Greater Manchester Youth Games
  • Helping the event run smoothly by answering competitor and spectator questions, providing information and making sure the event is as safe and child friendly as possible.
  • Supporting GreaterSport to encourage competitors and spectators to feed back about the event.

AFTER THE EVENT

  • Providing feedback on your experience of volunteering and Games so that we can continue to improve what we offer volunteers.
  • Helping dismantle the sites, which requires a degree of physical fitness, and manual handling. (Late Saturday afternoon and evening)
