1st4Sport Level 2 Award in Multi-Skills Development in Sport

Who is this course for? This course is to upskill existing Level 2 sport-specific coaches in multi-skills development in sport. This would complement an established coach looking to develop young learners in their sport-specific context, or looking to deliver multi-skills development in sport to all ages. Learners working to complete (or have already completed) a Physical Education and School Sport qualification may find this qualification useful too.

Course Outcome This qualification is designed to provide qualified Level 2 coaches with the knowledge and understanding to be able to introduce and enhance fundamental movement skills and sport-specific skills to different populations through the coaching of multi-skills activities. This will include an understanding of how to support physical and skill development through via the practical coaching of linked and progressive multi-skills sessions. A Level 2 Multi-Skills coach will be able to apply this knowledge to sport-specific coaching sessions or plan, deliver and review sessions purely linked to the development of fundamental movement skills (such as agility, balance and coordination) or sport-specific skills (such as jumping, throwing and catching).

“I personally really enjoyed the course and it definitely opened my eyes to some more techniques we should be using with our youngest children.” Learner, April 2017

Pre-Requisites Learners must be at least 17 years of age and be in possession of a minimum of a recognised Level 2 coaching qualification or non-regulated equivalent.  Undergraduate degree programmes (or completed undergraduate modules), which clearly demonstrate experience of planning, delivering and evaluating linked and progressive sessions, will also be considered suitable evidence. Please contact education@sportstructures.com before booking onto the course to find out if your undergraduate qualification meets this pre-requisite.

Assessment Learners are required to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of multi-skills coaching sessions (minimum of four) in a real environment. Learners are then required to deliver aspects of a session on-course in a simulated environment to demonstrate competence. The observed delivery must last a minimum of 20 minutes.
