What is it?

This qualification is designed to provide benefit to learners on the basis that it prepares them for employment as an independent korfball coach. A level 2 korfball coach is able to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of linked and progressive korfball coaching sessions independently, although they may work as part of a larger coaching team. In attending the qualification, learners are introduced to the practical and theoretical aspects of planning, delivering and evaluating progressive coaching sessions in korfball.

Who is it for?

The qualification is designed for those who wish to become involved in korfball as an independent coach, and wish to take responsibility for the ongoing development of participants.

What’s the format?

This qualification is delivered over 3 tutored days. After the third date, learners are required to plan, deliver and evaluate 4 linked and progressive sessions in their own environment. There is a final assessment date (usually a minimum of 6 weeks after day 3).

What will be assessed?

Achievement of the qualification is normally through attendance on a course of training and assessment. Learners are required to:

  • complete a series of assessed tasks contained both within their learner portfolio, provided by 1st4sport, and a series of tasks consisting of Multiple Choice Questions on the Coaching with Balls online system.
  • complete an outline plan for a series of four coaching sessions in korfball. The series of sessions will be required to demonstrate a progression appropriate to the needs of the participants (i.e. they must be linked and progressive). Learners will be required to deliver and evaluate each session.
  • plan, deliver and evaluate an additional two coaching sessions in korfball. The delivery of these sessions will be observed by the assessor (either in the workplace or in a simulated environment). Each observation will last a minimum of 20 minutes.

Entry Requirements

Prior to registration for the qualification learners are required to:

  • be appropriately identified
  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have successfully completed one of the following courses (British Korfball Association (BKA) Level 1 Award or above, International Korfball Federation (IKF) Level 1 Award, England Korfball Teaching Children Korfball course, England Korfball (EK) Level 1 Award or above)
  • be able to communicate effectively in English.
