Women's Football Head Coach

The post holder will deliver quality coaching, management, organising, delivering and monitoring performance to the University of Manchester’s Women’s Football club and increase their performance in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). This role will primarily be responsible for the coaching and management of the 1st team who play in BUCS North 2A. The team trains twice a week at the Armitage Sports Centre on a newly laid Football 3G pitch.

Location - Armitage Sports Centre, Moseley Road, Manchester M14 6HE

Contract Type - Service Level Agreement

Grade - Pay range £3,000 per Season (Sep-Mar)

Hours - Monday 8:30-10pm + Friday 6:30-8pm + Wednesday afternoon (Fixtures start between 2-6pm)

Starting Date - September 2019

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver an effective coaching programme that helps improve the performance and experience of Football club members.
  • Plan and deliver and effective pre-season in September and after the mid-season break in January 
  • Oversee all coaching of the club including delegation tasks to additional coaches where appropriate. 
  • Attend and manage BUCS fixtures of the 1st team and support the 2nd team coach.
  • Lead the club with input from team captains (and other coaches where appropriate) to select playing squads and maintain a transparent selection processes and pathways between squads. This will require attendance at trials.
  • Assist in recruiting students to engage with coaching opportunities, providing opportunities where appropriate to coach within the club.
  • Mentor student coaches within the club and offer support where appropriate to members who wish to undertake coaching qualifications or opportunities within the Coaching Pathway.
  • Provide regular information and status reports, as agreed with the Coach and Club Development Coordinator, on team and club performance and progress.
  • Work closely with the Club & Coach Development Coordinator and committee members to assist with the development of the Women’s Football club at The University of Manchester.
  • To ensure all sessions comply with Health and Safety.
