Find out more about who we are and the benefits of working for us

We’re looking for the best candidates to join us on the journey to get Greater Manchester Moving. We welcome ambitious people who share our mission and are driven to lead, collaborate and innovate to help get Greater Manchester moving.

Who we are

GreaterSport is a high performing charity passionate about changing lives through physical activity and sport. Our vision is to make Greater Manchester the most active region in England. We are also the Active Partnership for Greater Manchester, one of a network across the country who work collaboratively to create the conditions for an active nation and use the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives. Our mission is to get 2 million people in Greater Manchester moving by 2021. We are also working to support the GM Moving ambition to get 75% of residents active or fairly active by 2025.

Our values

We aspire to be an extraordinary place to work. To us, this means being a place where we inspire, grow, lead and thrive together to achieve our vision and make positive change.

Passion; for us this means we are excited about what we do. Our belief in our work and mission is visible and inspiring.

Purpose; for us this means we are clear and motivated about our why, what and how. We make things happen.

Integrity; for us this means we challenge ourselves and others to be honest and to do what is right.

These values are an integral component to our recruitment and selection processes. Our approach seeks to attract and select employees on the basis that their individual values and behaviours align with our organisational values.

By integrating values into our selection processes, we look to ensure that we recruit the right people not only with the right skills, but with the right mindset.

The way we work

The way in which we work within a complex and evolving system that spans across Greater Manchester and the localities, alongside our values, is fundamental to the organisation's ability to achieve its strategic outcomes. This way of working can be described in the following ways:

Six pointers for practice

Diversity

Diversity is critical for the success of GreaterSport and the achievement of our vision. We are fully committed to treating all of our employees, job applicants and volunteers equally.

As an employer, we aspire to being a diverse, inclusive and responsible organisation. Our aim is to have a workforce that reflects and understands the communities we work alongside.

We respect and value people's uniqueness and encourage our staff to bring their full, authentic selves to work. We want to ensure that the people who work for us are the best they can be, realising their full potential in both their personal and professional lives.

We recognise and celebrate the achievements, talent, passion and experience in all our staff, who help deliver our strategic outcomes.

Our recruitment process

We’ve made our recruitment process as easy and straightforward as possible.

Application Form

Completing the application form is a key part in the process as the information that you provide will help us with the shortlisting process. We’ll ask for information on your experience, skills, qualifications and understanding which are relevant to the advertised roles.

Interviews

Once you submit your application, we’ll review it. If we feel you’re suitable we’ll invite you to an interview – this could be a telephone interview, a face to face interview or in the format of an assessment centre, depending on the position you’re applying for. There may also be additional testing as part of our selection process and/or a second stage interview depending on the role you’re applying for. We appreciate every application sent through to us, so if you’re unsuccessful, we’ll let you know by email.

Anonymised Recruitment

We have adopted an 'anonymised recruitment’ process. This removes the candidate’s name and other identifying factors such as age and gender, so we can ensure we hire based on merit only.
