Equality and Diversity
GreaterSport’s Board is fully committed to recruiting and engaging people with appropriate diversity, independence, skills, experience and knowledge to take effective decisions that further our organisational aims and objectives.
- GreaterSport has adopted a target of a minimum of 30% of each gender on our Board; and,
- GreaterSport will demonstrate a strong and public commitment to progressing towards achieving gender parity and greater diversity on the board including, but not limited to. Black, Asian, minority ethnic (BAME) diversity and disability.
GreaterSport Board recognises the need to have a board that is diverse. It has agreed to ensure that:
30% of trustees are female by 31st March 2018
40% of trustees are female by 31st March 2019
50% of trustees are female by 31st March 2020
Having a board that reflects the community it serves is also important. The Board is making strives to increase representation from BAME groups by September 2018 with a target of one-third of the board having BAME representation by 2021
GreaterSport’s Board has introduced a Nominations and Remuneration Committee (see Committees). The Terms of Reference of the sub-committee (which has delegated authority by the Board) outlines GreaterSport’s policy for Equality and Diversity.
The Board is committed to ensuring that information on the GreaterSport website outlines the company’s work to foster all aspects of diversity within its leadership and decision making. This will include an annual update of progress against our diversity targets and actions identified.
