All of the Local pilots have demonstrated how an increase in physical activity among inactive older people can help address local strategic issues to improve outcomes for people and the dual place-based ambitions of growth and reform. The pilot projects were developed based on a local understanding of the demographic data, levels of inactivity among people aged 55+ and 65+ across the area and the key public health, social and economic data. Examples include levels of falls, deaths from CVD or premature mortality or number of GP appointments. This data was used to identify the strategic need to work with a cohort of inactive older people in a particular area to address a specific issue.
