Development Officer (Moving Forces - Mental Well-being)

18.5 hours per week

The role is a fixed term contract until 31/03/2022

GreaterSport is the Greater Manchester charity committed to changing lives by inspiring a healthier future in Greater Manchester through sport and physical activity.

We have an opportunity for a Development Officer to join the team.

Working closely with the Moving Forces team, you will lead on the delivery of a new strand of the Moving Forces project to help military veterans to improve their understanding of the relationship between physical activity and mental wellbeing. The post holder will work with local and national delivery partners as well as Manchester Metropolitan University who will lead the evaluation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate data collection and budget management, whilst also attending activity sessions, communicating with veterans, engaging with key partners, event management and promotion of the wider Moving Forces project. You will support a Manchester Metropolitan University PHD Student with the research project running alongside the programme.

The Development Officer will be an advocate for Physical Activity and Sport within ex-service personnel organisations and communities whilst supporting the delivery of GreaterSport events such as the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.

Additionally, you will complete reporting required by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund’s ‘Positive Pathways’ programme.
