Walking Football - City in the Community

City in the Community host walking football sessions twice a week.

They meet at the Manchester Tennis and Football Centre every Tuesday from 12 till 1pm and every Friday from 11am till 12pm.

Walking

We have an initial group walk for veterans scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday 29th September in Ashton.

The walk will be led by Activate who have lots of experience in leading walks for veterans of all abilities and fitness levels.

This initial walk will be suitable for people of all fitness levels.

Swimming

Active Tameside are offering a deal for armed forces veterans to pay just £12 for a monthly 'cash pass'.

The cash pass gives you unlimited off-peak access to all Active Tameside swimming pools and gyms for 1 month at a time.

There is no requirement to commit to several months membership. If you wish to continue after 1 month you simply pay £12 each time on a month by month basis.

Rugby

Sale Sharks and Aldwinians RUFC are launching a new veterans rugby team, to be based at Aldwinians in Ashton.

Training sessions will be every Wednesday from 7 till 8pm, starting on 7th November.

The coaching will be delivered by an armed forces veteran who has lots of experience running Sale Sharks' veterans programme.

The team will play its first match in December.

Boot Camp - British Military Fitness

British Military Fitness have extended their offer for armed forces veterans to enjoy free access to their fitness sessions until the end of 2018.

After this, veterans will be able to have a 20% discount.

Sessions are available all over Manchester, including at Stamford Park in Ashton every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 till 8.

All the staff are ex-forces and often stay behind after each session to chat with the other veterans.

Each session has 3 ability groups so it's suitable for all fitness levels and is much more fun and relaxed than your average 'PTI Beasting'!

Football - Curzon Ashton FC

Curzon Ashton FC have an established veterans football team.

The team recently played their first match against Burnley FC's veterans team.

They meet every Friday from 6 till 7pm.

Football - City in the Community

Manchester City in the Community are launching a new armed forces veterans' football team on 1st October.

They will meet every Monday from 6 till 7pm at the Manchester Tennis and Football Centre near the Etihad stadium. 

If you've ever wanted to represent Man City and wear the kit, this is your chance.

Football for people with disabilities - City in the Community

City in the Community run several inclusive football teams which cater for people with disabilities including:

Visual Impairment

Amputees

Power chair users

And many others...

Crown Green Bowls

Tameside Armed Services Community (TASC) run a weekly social club for ex-forces personnel to play bowls, join a craft activity or just chat.

The club meets every Wednesday from 7 till 9pm at Waterloo Park Centre in Ashton.

The group is free, but a small donation towards refreshments would be appreciated.
