Greater Manchester School's Football Poetry Competition Launched

GreaterSport have teamed up with The National Football Museum to launch the Greater Manchester School's Football Poetry Competition for the second year running.

The competition which is open to any school within Greater Manchester has 2 categories; KS2 & KS3 and is asking individual pupils, groups or even whole class' to write a poem which has football as its central theme. Some suggested ideas include players, teams, matchdays, goals etc.

School's must then submit their poem to their Local School Games Organiser by Friday 13th February 2015. (Contact details can be found under Downloads at the right hand side of the page)
The Borough finalist poems and and overall Greater Manchester winning poem will be chosen by the National Football Museum's poet-in-residence Paul Cookson. The overall borough winner will then be invited to the National Football Musuem for the Grand Final on March 18th 2015 where the Greater Manchester Winner will be announced.

The overall winners will then be invited to attend the VIP reception at the Greater Manchester Winter School's Games on March 24th 2015 to recite their poem.

Guidelines

- Poems can be in any style/genre but must be no longer than 24 lines
- Poems can be written by individuals / groups / classes
There will be two categories : KS2 and KS3
- Poems must be submitted in a text format or by audio visual recording
- All poems must have the writer’s name(s), the name of the school and the contact teacher of the school on every piece of work submitted
