Sara Tomkins announced as new GreaterSport CEO

GreaterSport are delighted to announce Sara Tomkins as our new CEO. Sara will be starting with GreaterSport on 16th April and will be leading the GreaterSport team as we begin the implementation of our new strategy ‘Changing Our Lives Together’.
Sara’s most recent role was Destination Director for Marketing Manchester and before that was Assistant Chief Executive at Manchester City Council, so she has a strong network and extensive knowledge of Greater Manchester and its key strategies. Sara has also worked for a digital and communication agency and retailers such as Littlewoods Shop Direct and Marks & Spencer’s. She is a passionate, enthusiastic leader with private and public sector background and experience in brand development, place, social and retail marketing, communications and PR.
On her appointment Sara said, “I am delighted to be leading GreaterSport and working with the talented team and their many partners to support the target of getting 2miliion people moving in Greater Manchester by 2021. It is an ambition that is close to my heart and I feel very proud and privileged to bring my knowledge and passion to contribute to this agenda.”
Mike Diaper, Executive Director at Sport England was part of the interview panel and said, “Sara is an impressive appointment for GreaterSport, bringing a fantastic skill set and network to the role. She builds upon a solid foundation, with a great team and partners and I am looking forward to continuing a successful relationship with GreaterSport.”
