Steroplast celebrates local sports clubs success

The Greater Manchester Sports Awards, now in their 18th year, take place on 16th November at The Point Emirates Old Trafford. They celebrate the outstanding commitment and achievements made in physical activity and sport across Greater Manchester. BBC Radio Manchester presenter Chelsea Norris is the night’s host, who will be joined by guest speaker Claire Lomas; marathoner, motor biker, hand cyclist and campaigner. The 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester hold their own awards and the winners from eight categories are invited to the Greater Manchester event.

Steroplast are official sponsors of the Club of the Year award which celebrates the impact of local sports clubs in the last 12 months. This category not only looks at the competitive success of the club but also looks at the wider impact the club has on its members and the local community. The clubs battling it out to become Greater Manchester champions are;

  • Bolton – Tri-Rivington UK
  • Bury – Jigsaw
  • Manchester – Manchester Bees Dodgeball Club
  • Oldham – Fierce Dance
  • Rochdale – Rochdale Junior Netball Club
  • Salford – Cadishead Rhinos
  • Stockport – Stockport Metro Swimming Club
  • Tameside –Dom Doyle FC
  • Trafford – Mile Shy Club
  • Wigan – Astley & Tyldesley Cycling Club

This year’s winner will follow in the footsteps of Oldham’s Chadderton Park Sport’s Club who were crowned Greater Manchester Club of the year 2017. It was quite a year for the club, who received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services acknowledging their outstanding community-based work. The club works with numerous charities and runs many schemes and programmes all aimed at increasing community participation. With teams for all ages, genders and abilities, Chadderton Park caters for all within their local community.
