Stockport’s Life Leisure has been shortlisted for two ukactive Awards.

Known for operating a diverse range of sports and leisure facilities in Stockport, Life Leisure is committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of communities through physical activity.

The organisation works to positively impact the mental, social, and physical health of local people.

The CIC, wholly owned by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, works to ensure all residents can access affordable provision within their communities.

Life Leisure are up for the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award for improving their offer for those with additional needs and disabilities, including inclusive fitness sessions and SEND-friendly sessions.

The Stockport organisation is also in the running for the Marketing Campaign Award for their hugely successful #FindYourWhy campaign.

#FindYourWhy is an inclusive campaign that harnessed member stories to empower and motivate others to discover their personal reasons for keeping active.

Ross McGuigan, Life Leisure Active Communities Manager, said:

“It means the world to have the amazing work of both our active communities and marketing teams recognised with a nomination in these two ukactive Awards.

“We’re so proud to be finalists in these categories, highlighting our dedication to improving the lives of others in our community.

“This achievement wouldn't be possible without the hard work and passion of our incredible teams. Whatever the outcome on the night, we’re already winners in our eyes.”

Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, Wythenshawe Forum, operated by Everyone Active, has also been nominated in the Regional Club/Centre of the Year category.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on Thursday 3 October.
