Use Your Energy is Action Together’s community investment programme to encourage children and young people (CYP) aged 5-18 years to become more active, and forms part of Tameside LDP (Local Delivery Pilot). Our aim was to co-produce the programme with young people, and local groups who work with young people, who do not engage in physical activity.

  • 56 Groups were successful in receiving funding
  • Groups received support through Action Together's Capacity Building service, including improving their governance, free training, and making connections with new networks
  • Over 2,500 children and young people so far participated in projects and activities funded by Use Your Energy in Tameside

Read the full report here, which includes more about the work, who benefited and a couple of case studies of projects and the difference it's made to them and their young people as well as key learnings.

Ensemble Inclusive Arts are one of the groups who received funding. They stated:

“Projects like Use Your Energy are really important because they give us the opportunity to access funding so that we can put such successful workshops on in our community, it really means a lot to these young people to stay more active and be more involved in their community... It’s really exciting for the community of Denton, so thank you - it means so much to us.”

Liz Windsor- Welsh, Chief Executive of Action Together said:

“We are pleased to publish our Use Your Energy report, which highlights the significant impact of the VCFSE sector in Tameside in creating opportunities for children and young people to lead more active lives. The amazing groups and local projects that have been funded have connected over 2,500 children and young people, from across Tameside, with a wide range of interests and experiences of being active. Our evidence tells us that the local voluntary and community sector is pivotal to the success of our ambition to increase physical activity in Tameside’s communities, and that with a relatively small investment in the local sector we can make a big impact to the lives of many children and young people.”

We are also pleased to announce that as a result of the success of Use Your Energy, we are now offering Tameside groups more funding to get more children and young people more active, more often.
