This project has been made possible through funding from the National Lottery Awards for All.
Walking Cricket makes cricket accessible to older adults (men and women aged over 50) and individuals who are semi–retired or retired. It is an adaptation of the traditional game of cricket to suit those with less mobility and caters for different abilities.
The sessions are led by a trained coach and start with gentle ball skill exercises which build up into a game, followed by a chat with complimentary refreshments.
Research carried out by Nuffield Health, Frontier Economics and Manchester Metropolitan University, shows that expanding their programme would generate at least £1.7bn in social and economic value.
