Moving indoors

Following changes to the Government guidance, from 25th July, sports facilities and venues, including indoor gyms, fitness and dance studios, indoor swimming pools and indoor water parks, can open. Below we have detailed the re-opening dates of leisure centres across Greater Manchester.

Bolton

All Bolton Community Leisure centres can be found here.

  • Farnworth Leisure Centre are opening their doors to members on Saturday 25th July 2020. Visit their website to find out what you need to be aware of before visiting here.
  • Horwich Leisure Centre are opening their doors to members on Saturday 25th July 2020. Visit their website to find out what you need to be aware of before visiting here.
  • Leverhulme Park Community Leisure Centre remains closed until further notice. Please keep up to date with the reopening plans here.
  • The Jason Kenny Centre are opening their doors to members on Saturday 25th July 2020. Visit their website to find out what you need to be aware of before visiting here.

Bury

  • Castle Leisure Centre will reopen on Saturday 25 July
    • Gym sessions - Saturday 25 July.
    • Fitness sessions - Saturday 25 July.
    • Swimming sessions - Tuesday 28 July.
    • Badminton and squash sessions - Monday 3 August.
  • Ramsbottom Pool and Fitness Centre will reopen on Saturday 25 July
    • Gym sessions - Saturday 25 July.
    • Fitness sessions - Saturday 25 July.
    • Swimming sessions - Saturday 1 August.
  • Radcliffe Leisure Centre will reopen on Sunday 26 July
    • Gym sessions - Sunday 26 July.
    • Fitness sessions - Monday 27 July.
    • Swimming sessions - Thursday 30 July.

Please note: Swimming lessons will restart later this year following the safe phased reopening of the centres.

Manchester

Gyms operated on behalf of Manchester City Council will be reopening in phases to help you return to gyms and classes as safely as possible. From Saturday 1 August, 6 community gyms will be open to the public. From Saturday 25 July we'll be opening these 6 gyms exclusively to existing users only. The following facilities not operated on behalf of the Council will also be open: 

  • Withington Baths & Leisure Centre (from 27 July gym, swim & classes)
  • Broadway Leisure Centre (from 25 July gym, swim & classes)

Oldham

Oldham Community Leisure centres will be open to both members and the wider community for pre-booked activities including the gym, group exercise classes, swimming, courts, bowls, table tennis and learn-to-swim lessons. Trampolining classes will also restart from 3rd of August. Rochdale

On Saturday 25 July, the gyms, swimming pools and group exercise classes will restart at the following Link4Life centres:

  • Heywood Sports Village,
  • Littleborough Sports Centre,
  • Middleton Arena
  • Rochdale Leisure Centre.

Salford

Worsley Leisure Centre will be opening from Monday 27 July, followed by a phased re-opening of other Salford Community Leisure centres. Worsley will be the first of to re-open and this will be followed by a phased re-opening of the other centres.   • Swinton & Pendlebury – Monday 10 August
  • Eccles – Monday 10 August

  • Clarendon – Monday 24 August
  • Ordsall – Monday 24 August
  • Salford Sports Village – End of August (once the pitch resurfacing work has been completed)

 

Stockport

Phase 1 of the reopening of LifeLEISURE centres will see the reopening of the following centres on Monday 27th July:

  • LifeLEISURE Stockport Sports Village (Woodley)
  • LifeLEISURE Houldsworth Village

Subsequent phases relate to other facilities owned by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. These facilities include:

Trafford

Trafford Leisure’s centres will be following a phased reopening of sites from the 27th July, these include;

  • Altrincham Leisure Centre
  • Sale Leisure Centre

The Grammar, Partington Sports Village, Stretford Talbot and OT Sports Barn will continue to remain temporarily closed. They aim to reopen safely and in accordance with government guidelines from September.
